Carmine January Box

My Carmine box arrived today. Here a summary of what I got and my thoughts on this months box:

Korres - Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturising & Brightening Cream (10ml)

As Beauty Box Swaps only uses BIOeffect because this meets all my skincare needs this sample is available for swap or sale.

Eldora - False Eyelashes

I am excited by these, I like the style of the ones in my box, and I will be using them but I'll need assistance because I am an eyelash novice.

Balance Me - Radiance Face Oil (5ml)

See above re: BIOeffect

West Lab - Himalayan Pink Salt (100g)

The perfect product for a lazy girl like me. Pretty pink bath salts that promise to turn a 30 min soak into a 'detox that's equivalent to a 3 day fast'. Any Beauty Box Babes without baths feel free to pass this product my way.

Eyeko - Fat Eye Stick (4g)

I got this full-sized product in Charcoal. I will be interested to experiment with this. I have just swatched it on my hand then blended with my finger my first impressions are it doesn't seem to have much staying power. Looking forward to finding out what other colours people got.

For a limited time, if you sign up using this link, you will get free delivery for the first month, and I will get points to receive free products!

It seems like only yesterday Carmine was the new beauty box on the block but in fact this is their fourth box. This month saw the launch of a new beauty box She Said please use this link for more information.

Do you subscribe to Carmine? What did you think?

Beauty Box Swaps Loves: Pure Age Defiance Wipes

I use these wipes every day. They are the best wipes ever!
My lazy girls routine is wipe face with these vitamin E enriched wipes then apply BIOeffect. The wipes are effective at removing make-up and leave my skin looking and feeling good.  I repeat this ritual every morning and some evenings.
A good friend of mine recommended these wipes to me, she suffers from eczema, and she says they can be relied upon not to irritate her sensitive skin.
You can buy 2 packets of these wipes for a £1 from poundland. These would be my preferred wipes regardless of the cost.
You may recall I referred to these wipes in my first impressions review of the August Glossy Box.
The name of these wipes also amuses me. I initially misread the packet and assumed they were called something more expected such as age defence. I smile to myself as 'I think I am defiant in the face of aging'.

New Beauty Box on the Block - She Said

As the founder of Beauty Box Swaps I like to think I've got my finger on the pulse when it comes to beauty boxes. But I was taken completely off guard by one today.

A brand spanking new beauty box popped up on the Beauty Box Swaps facebook page today. An unexpected but pleasant surprise.

Like many of my fellow beauty box addicts. I really should be thinking about giving up a beauty box or two not adopting a new one.

But here I am newly subscribed to the She Said beauty box to add to Carmine, Feel Unique, Glossy Box & Jolie Box.

If you would like to join me you can get 25% off your first box by using this link

Beauty Box Swaps FAQ

Where did the idea for the Beauty Box Swaps came from?

I am an avid subscriber to Beauty Boxes with a thrifty outlook. I personally wanted to access a community so I could swap the products I wouldn't use for the products I have fallen head over heels for. I noticed the occasional person (including myself) was requesting swaps on the walls of the beauty boxes but realised a page dedicated to swapping could provide a more focussed service. As some monthly subscription Beauty Boxes are not yet tailored to individual subscribers Beauty Box Swaps has also proved invaluable to people who want to simply swap shades of nail polish, eye pencils, brow kits etc. If you would like to know more about the conception and birth of Beauty Box Swaps feel free to check out my earlier blog post Beauty Box Swaps.

So, let's say I want to swap products. Can you tell me how it works and what I have to do?

Beauty Box Swaps believes in keeping things as simple as possible so there are no complicated rules to follow. All you need to do is like the page. Then post what you want to swap. You can do this just using text but if you include a picture that's even better. People who are interested will comment on your post and you can then privately arrange the details by using facebook messages or email. Then when your swaps arrive it's beneficial to members of the community to leave a comment on the wall with your feedback. I am thrilled to report that up to now the majority of feedback is proving to be positive.

So have you ever actually used the page to swap? What did you end up receiving?

Oh yes, that's why I set up this page! I have made several swaps to date. I am stockpiling all my favourite beauty box discoveries BIOeffect, Plum by Mary Greenwell and Sachajuan conditioner. It is lovely when swappers surprise you with little extras including: handwritten notes & bonus samples. On one occasion I was fortunate enough to receive a thoughtful bonus sample of Plum on the same day that an organised swap of this sample arrived broken.

There are several different boxes out there at the moment. Is the community only for subscribers of a certain box?

This community is for everybody particularly people with an interest in Beauty and a desire not to let good products go to waste. Although the page was originally envisaged as a means of swapping products received in Beauty Boxes. Beauty Box Swaps has the view that people can swap any cosmetics regardless of how luxe or high end they are. We take the view that the recipient of the swap should be free to decide whether products are desirable to them. We are all individuals who value different things and the same goes for what we want in our bathroom cabinets, make-up bags and on our dressing tables.

Is the page used to promote or do anything else besides swapping box samples?

Beauty Box Swaps is a page for swapping and sharing and as such we are happy for members of it's community to also share links to relevant Ebay (& similar) listings, blog posts, relevant facebook pages & posts. Members of the Beauty Box Swaps community understand the page is provided as a noticeboard and Beauty Box Swaps can not be held responsible for any problems that may occur in the swapping or buying process.Beauty Box Swaps gets upset when lovely products are left languishing unloved and unused. As such we take every opportunity to actively promote people passing these products onto someone who will use and love them including: friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and of course Beauty Box Swappers. For this reason we also promote and support the charity Give and Make-up as this charity work tirelessly to provide essentials, that many of us take for granted, for survivors of domestic abuse.

Beauty Box Swaps is proud we are the No. 1 beauty swaps page on facebook and we are very excited to announce we will soon be getting our very website to further develop our innovative and exciting brand.

Beauty Box Swaps 'record breaking' Secret Valentines Gift Swap

Please bear with me while I tentatively re-discover the art of blogging and get used to Blogger.
Some of you will know I started out my blogging journey on Wordpress with encouragement and practical coaching from my sister a.k.a minibreak mummy.
I have made the switch to blogger because it seems more straightforward to get some advertising on my blog this way. Have other bloggers found this?

I am very excited about the future for Beauty Box Swaps. Spring this year should see the birth of beautyboxswaps.com with a holding page in place by February in time for my 40th birthday.

The facebook Beauty Box Swaps page is buzzing with excitement about our Secret Valentines Gift Swap. This is the first recorded swap of it's kind and a formal application has been made to the Guinness Book of Records for adjudication as a new world record.
How does it work? You get assigned a recipient and send them a lovely gift for Valentines suggested value £5. In return you get a gift from your own secret admirer.
Secret Valentines was the genius idea of Sarah Louise Smith, a popular and reliable beauty box swapper, who recently got promoted to admin in recognition of the value she adds to the Beauty Box Swaps community.
Secret Valentines is for everybody single or in a relationship. It recognises the universal joy of giving and receiving gifts.
Beauty Box Swaps loves presents!!! Did I mention it's my birthday soon ;-)
